(February 4, 1906 –April 9, 1945)
Bonhoeffer was born in Breslau, Poland, into a huge family. His father was a neurologist and a psychiatrist, Karl Bonhoeffer. His mother was a teacher, Paula Bonhoeffer, and the Protestant theologian granddaughter, Karl von Hase and Stanislaus Kalckreuth, painter. He was a German Lutheran theologian, anti-Nazi dissenter, pastor, and key founding associate of the Confessing Church. His composition on Christianity's job in the secular humanity have become hugely influential, and his volume The Cost of Discipleship turn out to be a modern classic.
He was an exceptional student and at age 25 he became a professor of systematic religion at identical University. When Hitler appears to power in 1933, Dietrich turns out to be the leading spokesman of the Confessing Church, the core of Protestant fighting to the Nazis. He planned and led the underground seminary for a time of the Confessing Church. His volume Life Together illustrates the life of the Christian humanity in that seminary, and his manuscript The Cost of Discipleship assault those what he named as cheap grace. In year 1939, his brother-in-law initiated him to a crowd whose planning the defeat of Hitler, and he created important contributions in their work. During this moment, he was an employee in the Department of Military Intelligence. He was detained in April 1943 and in jail in Berlin. After the breakdown of the effort on Hitler's time in April 1944, he was transmitted primarily to Buchenwald and after that in Schoenberg Prison. His existence was spared, since he had a family who was high in the administration; but then his relative was himself concerned with the anti-Nazi plots. On April 8, 1945, he had just finished a service of reverence at Schoenberg, when 2 soldiers came in and say, Bonhoeffer, be ready and go with us, the average summons to a fated prisoner. When he left, he told the other prisoner that this is his end, but the start of life for him. He was dangled the next day, in less than a week just before the Allies arrive at the camp.
Some of his writings insisted that a lot of Christians do not seriously take adequate, the power and existence of evil. Due to his statements and more advices, most of the theological advocates in the 1960's in the secularist Christianity tried to assert him as their personal. It is accurate that he never had the opportunity to correct his prison papers and letters, or place them in context, and therefore it is not amazing that they have some statements that confuse the readers. Fifty years right after the implementation of Dietrich Bonhoeffer on April 9, 1945 at age 39, in the hands of Hitler's unusual commandos in the attention camp of Flossenbuerg, leaders of the church have compensated tribute to the German theologian Lutheran who united with the political antagonism to Hitler. As a present memorial ritual in Flossenbuerg, the head bishop of the Church of the Evangelist in Germany, illustrates how Dietrich rejects to be situated on the prayer records of the Church Confessing after his internment in 1943. Dietrich thought that only who were jailed due to their declaration or actions in the rituals of the church fit on the prayer record, but not those jails as political schemer. Engelhardt declared that the today's church must think again regarding how it beats those who practice their battle to injustice in political means.
Dietrich Bonhoeffer has a commemorative stamp from 1995, has a memorial fronting St. Peter's Church, in Hamburg and has a Gallery from the 20th Century Martyrs in Westminster Abbey with Russian Mother Elizabeth, Martin Luther King Jr, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Oscar Romero.
