Lack of Drama
Well, Michael Winterbottom selected the right cast to play the movie characters and we couldn’t deny that, but there is the problem on the plot. There are many dramatic events in the story of Paul Raymond, but in this film it has not been presented very well. Perhaps, he showed a drama only in a part wherein his daughter died due to drug overdose and he knew that he gave a little concern only to his daughter, permitting to take cocaine. This event is the only part where there is an emotion fall on the main character. All the emotion isn't shown here. It is much better if there are more drama scenes added in the script so that it could showcase the different emotions of Paul Raymond.
Lack of detail on Characters
This movie loaded with events and facts but they are not properly presented and most of all there is no broad detail of the character’s world. Each actor has their own interesting and colorful character so it is quite better if it should be focused or could be seen more of it and not just showing them with events and the outcome. They could change some of the events through bringing the characters to a much better storyline. Better storylines could absolutely develop the characters and in a result could get attention and sympathize of the viewers.
Too many dialogues and not knowing where to focus
There are too many dialogues in the film, some of them are important but some are not needed. It made the movie suffocating and gave minimal room for emotions. If there are a lot of unnecessary dialogues, it could make the movie deadening. Since this biographical movie is about Paul Raymond’s personal life and his success in business so there are a lot of things to show for it and the script wants to display everything that make a short experience only to every event. There is a problem on where to focus so that’s why the life of Paul Raymond here is too fast.
But if you are curious to know more about Paul Raymond’s personal life and his business achievements, this is the recommended movie for you.
